General information

To present a general program about the fundamental topics on East, South, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, through the following disciplines: Language and Culture; Geography, History and Religion; Economics, Sociology, Politics and Law. All these contents in their historical and contemporary coordinates.

Admission profile

Professionals and specialists from different disciplines belonging to the public or private sector, academics, undergraduate students, graduate students and the general public related to the subject.

Instructors

The instructors and module coordinators are, mostly, teachers and researchers trained at UNAM with extensive experience in Asian studies; in fact, many have lived and studied in Asian universities. The student can be sure that the information they have and that will be transmitted throughout the course is serious and first-hand.

What will you get at the end?

Students who successfully complete the diploma course, in addition to receiving their diploma endorsed by the UNAM, will have a greater ability to perceive the different phenomena that occur in Asia.

Evaluation

To obtain the diploma, a minimum of 80% attendance is required and the delivery of an essay at the end of the diploma course.

The written work must be 4, 500 to 6,000 words long MAXIMUM. Topics may be selected according to the lines proposed by the coordinators of the module (questions-topic) or, according to the contents of the presentations.

The essays must contain: introduction (problem statement, purpose and research questions), development (academic argumentation), conclusions, critical apparatus and consultation sources (academic, specialized, journals, government entities. Avoid Wikis, blogs and materials that do not have been subjected to an editorial opinion or peer review process).

It is essential that the works include the citations and references of the documents that support your research. The format that the student must use will be the one proposed by the American Psychological Association, known as APA. Every time an idea, data, theory, image or words of another person is used while carrying out your essay, you must indicate the author's last name, year of publication, title and subtitle of the work, edition from the second, country and publisher. Example: “Clark, E. (1965). Preventive Medicine: an epidemiological approach. NY. McGraw Hill”. At the end of the work, all sources should be listed in alphabetical order. The qualification will be awarded by the specialist in the subject in conjunction with a specialist professor from another region; the grade will be: "Approved" or "Not approved".

  • In case the student only takes one of the modules:
  • A minimum of 80% attendance is required.
  • At the end of the diploma course the student will have to submit a written work. The topic of the essays will be chosen according to the lines proposed by the coordinators of the module (questions-topic) or, according to the contents of the presentations.
  • The qualification will be awarded by the specialist in the subject in conjunction with a specialist professor from another region; the grade will be: "Approved" or "Not approved".

The elements to qualify are:

  • Spelling and syntax-. The writing of the work must meet the standards of an academic work, without misspellings and syntax mistakes.
  • Presentation of the document. Complete organization (abstract title, body of the essay, conclusions and bibliographic and hemerographic references)
  • Punctuality in delivery. The date and form of delivery is immovable.
  • Clear identification of the object of study. Explain clearly and substantially the phenomenon to be studied.
  • Logical articulation of ideas-.Each paragraph must have a sequence with the previous one, that is, the arguments must be interrelated.
  • Synthetic conclusions-.The ability to recapitulate the central ideas of the work, as well as carry out a series of reflections.
  • Bibliographic sources and relevant and scientific data. The sources must be books, articles, scientific electronic pages, that is, omit the use of readings or pages of doubtful quality (example: good treas.com. El rincón del vago.com, Wikipedia.com, easy tasks.com, among many others.)
