Almost thirty years after the fall of the USSR, Central Asia remains one of the most forgotten regions on the planet. However, its relevance is growing due to its energetic and strategic importance since September 11, 2001 and the US attack against the Taliban in Afghanistan a month later. Since then, Americans, Russians and Chinese have wanted to influence the region, which is of great geopolitical importance due to its size, geographical position, natural resources and the role played by various countries within it. As a result, Central Asia has become an area of indisputable importance at both regional and international levels, which is why its study is essential today. Thus, this book analyzes how world powers are trying to define their relationships with the five countries within Central Asia and in so doing, it offers a contemporary geopolitical vision of a region that is important for its geography and resources.

This book is a reflective and critical history about the shaping of the Mouride confraternity, a Sufi Islamic grouping originally from Senegambia that has extended its links across borders thanks to the contemporary migratory phenomenon. The author traces the ideological and organizational foundations of the Mouride to the expansion of their practices and beliefs in the era of globalization, delving into the nature of the relationship between religion, secular politics and migration, elements that in synthesis explain the configuration of the confraternity. The originality of the approach of this study lies in its methodology: the objective is to analyze the process of consolidation of the Mouride community at an international level from the temporality and conception of the confraternity itself, contrasting sources of the latter with Western sources and making a reading that questions the vision of Eurocentric historiography.

The Korean peninsula is one of the regions that are currently under constant observation in the complex international mosaic. Characterized by its peculiar economic and political dynamics, today it has an emerging cultural representation that has managed to transcend the world.

For this reason, this book deals with topics that contribute to the understanding of the problems that define part of the current peninsular reality. It analyzes economic and political issues, which are undoubtedly essential for approaching the study of the Korean peninsula. However, the book reflects on the importance of the study of both Koreas from a social and cultural perspective, providing the reader with a human and deep analysis of the Korean societies, allowing them to learn about and reflect on phenomena and problems of the peninsular daily life.

In this way, under a multidisciplinary approach, the importance of each of the Republics in the current world context is shown, a perspective that also combines fundamental issues on culture and society such as religion, language and cultural consumption.

The story of the People's Combatants of Iran (Moyahedin-e Jalq-e Iran) is the sad saga of the noblest hopes and aspirations of a revolutionary mobilization that became distorted over time into a set of betrayals that let down each and every revolutionary ideal of 20th century Iran. This distortion transformed them into a vulgar and violent cult that abandoned even its own promises of change and social justice, so that it is safe to say that the story of the Moyahedin sums up in itself the best and the worst of contemporary Iranian political culture.

This book is a long-term and unique Spanish-language research on this controversial organization. It is a manuscript elaborated with the help of primary sources, interviews with Iranian politicians, activists, former members and intellectuals specialized in the subject, and the result of a series of research stages carried out between 2011 and 2019 in Tehran, Madrid, Paris, Washington and New York, in which the necessary material was recovered to document the trajectory of the group and its ways of articulating interests with political actors as varied as Ayatollah Khomeini and Saddam Hussein to people like John Bolton and Turki Al Fasal, for whom this group has been attractive throughout its history not so much for its ideology, but for the military potential and the information networks it has always had inside Iran.

Three decades after the birth of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, profound changes have been observed in the international economic system. Today, this intergovernmental forum faces major challenges in implementing its ambitious agenda in the areas of economic liberalization, trade facilitation and cooperation among member countries. Readers of this book will find in it a detailed diagnosis of its evolution and achievements, but also of the problems it faces in the present "crisis of multilateralism", triggered by the neo-protectionist policies of the United States. In order to achieve this objective, leading national researchers from public and private higher education institutions, most of which are members of the Mexican Consortium of APEC Study Centers, were invited to participate under the leadership of the APEC Study Center located within the University Program for Asian and African Studies (PUEAA) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

More than a linear, chronological development, the reader will appreciate that this volume was built around an idea, or a set of ideas, about what India represents. It is, of course, a limited space, an invention, and for this reason the title itself shows a conscious effort, hopelessly incomplete, to organize a series of knowledge around a topic that overflows in all aspects: studies on India.

It is common that - from an academic point of view - modern India, classical India and all the other Indies are studied separately. There is usually little communication between the different types of specialists, some closer to social disciplines, others to the humanities and the arts.

However, this frequent disconnection exists only in the formal sphere, since a glance at any of the works that make up this book is enough to realize that there is a constant dialogue between them through which there is a kind of coming and going throughout history and academic disciplines.

Asia and Africa are inserts in international financial circuits, determined by profitability. An example of this is the price of the main export products, set on the international market. Trade has been part of the economic, political and social history of both continents, whose vitality has been part of the changes in the profitability processes of capitalism and has played a fundamental role in overcoming economic and financial crises, through of various trails.

Throughout eleven chapters, this work attempts to explain the future of Asia and Africa, intertwining theoretical and empirical aspects, revealing a wide spectrum of characteristics, dynamics and consequences of the types of financing present in both continents. The work subjects productive investment to observation as a way forward, especially when profit expectations are exceeded; shows a real picture of Asian financial outflows, together with the government measures implemented in order to achieve both the growth and the economic development desired.

Compare in depth the macroeconomic and financing parameters between East Asia and Mexico; addresses the various internal problems that scourge India and China; exposes the clash between the economic potential as an exporter of raw materials and food, against the suffocating austere policies due to indebtedness on the African continent and, finally, tries to glimpse if the post-crisis strategies employed are only the prelude to new and worse crises.
