He is senior lecturer in Mass Communication and a pioneer of the “Public Relations and Media Management” degree program at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. With extensive experience in both academia and consultancy, he has contributed to the development of communication strategies in various sectors. His consultancy work includes projects with organisations such as I.T.D.G. (U.K.) and the World Bank, where he served as a Development Strategic Communication consultant and a Senior Program Officer, respectively. His expertise lies in digital intimacy, media and masculinity, public relations, intercultural/cross-cultural communication, and development (strategic) communication. Currently, he’s working in Digital virtual social media, Public relations, and creative relationship management. And he recently earned his PhD in Digital Media and Critical Cultural Studies from the Department of Media and Cultural Studies at Newcastle University, UK. Throughout his career, he has received the Commonwealth Postgraduate Scholarship (UK) and the Presidential Postgraduate Scholarship (Sri Lanka) for his postgraduate studies. He’s also working on an international research project with Dr. Chris Haywood at Newcastle University, which explores the decreasing levels of secondary and higher education among young Sri Lankan men as a socio-anthropological study that examines the interplay between education and masculinity.
