He holds a bachelor's degree in Social Communication from the Autonomous Metropolitan University-Xochimilco, a master's and a PhD degree in History of Social Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. In 2006, he is currently a full-time "B" researcher at CEIICH, in the Visual Studies Program and is a member of the National System of Researchers, level I. His lines of research are visual studies and the cultural history of scientific books, their circulation and appropriation, as well as other cultural industries such as photography and film productions. His academic publications include El corazón de los libros. Alzate y Bartolache: lectores y escritores novohispanos (s. XVIII) (UNAM, 2012), the volumes coordinated with Marina Garone: Todos mis libros. Reflexiones en torno a las bibliotecas personales en México y América Latina (UNAM, 2020) and Los bibliófilos y sus libros anotados. Coleccionismo, lectura, escritura y edición de libros desde las bibliotecas personales (UNAM, 2021) and as coordinator Carlos Monsiváis: Bibliofilia, coleccionismo y redes culturales (UNAM, 2025). He assumed the directorship of the Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias en Ciencias y Humanidades (CEIICH), for the 2020-2028.
