B.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from School of Economics, UNAM, 1964 and 2003, respectively. She holds a Master's degree in Economics from El Colegio de México, 1987. She is a Senior A-level Researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones Económicas-UNAM, attached to the Research Unit of Economics of the Agri-Food Sector. She was awarded the Alfonso Caso Medal in 2005. Her line of research at the IIEC is on the economy of the People's Republic of China, entitled "Economic reform in China. From a socialist economy to a market economy". Her current research project has been the following: China's socioeconomic evolution and changes in its international position. Her research proposal for 2018 is on Food Security Strategies and Situation in China, India and Bangladesh.
