Bachelor and PhD in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of UNAM, 1964 and 2003, respectively. Master’s in economics from El Colegio de México, 1987. She is a Full Researcher at the Economic Research Institute-UNAM, attached to the Economics Research Unit of the Agrifood Sector. She was awarded the Alfonso Caso Medal in 2005. Her line of research at IIEC is about the economy of the People's Republic of China, called "Economic reform in China, from a socialist economy to a market economy". Her current research project (March 2014- December 2017) has been as follows: Socioeconomic evolution of China and changes in its international position. Her research proposal for 2018 is on the Strategies and Situation of Food Security in China, India and Bangladesh.
