She holds a Bachelor's degree in Geography, a Master's degree in Geography, in the Environmental Geography area, and a PhD in Sciences from the Institute of Geophysics in the Disaster Risk Area. She took the Diploma in Bioethics in 2017 and between 2016 and 2019 she took five courses on bioethics, biotechnology and bioethics committees. She belongs to the National System of Researchers, level I.

She is currently Director of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters for the period 2021-2025 and full-time “A” Professor. She was head of the Coordination of Sustainability and Prevention between 2017 and 2019. She was temporarily in charge of the Geography Graduate Program between May and June 2018. General Secretary of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, from February 2020 to February 2021. Her main lines of research and publication are risks and disasters, social and gender vulnerability and bioethics in the management of natural resources.

She teaches Geography of Risks, Methodological Bases for Geographic Research and Degree Seminar I, as well as a seminar on Vulnerability in the Graduate Degree of Geography and Historical Geography in the Graduate Degree of Mesoamerican Studies. She was awarded the Gustavo Baz Prada Prize in 2017. She was a consultant for UN-Habitat between 2013 and 2015 in the elaboration of the Comprehensive Risk Management Plan for the Municipality of Acapulco and in the elaboration of the Diagnosis of Hazards within the Municipal Development Plans of the municipalities of Reynosa, Altamira, Tampico and Ciudad Madero in Tamaulipas and Torreon in Coahuila from 2009 to 2010.

She participated as an international consultant for the World Meteorological Organization of the United Nations between 2000 and 2001 in the elaboration of the Diagnosis of the Institutional Response Capacity of Latin American Governments in terms of prevention in case of a forecast of a Niño event. She is a founding and active member of the Mexican Network of Interdisciplinary Studies for Disaster Prevention since 2008, Academic Member of the Mexican Society of Geography and Statistics since 2015, Member of the Federation of University Women since 2016 and Member of the American Association of Geographers since 2017.
