Emb. Alfonso de Maria y Campos

Ambassador De Maria y Campos Castelló studied law and political science at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and carried out postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom. He carried out teaching activities at UNAM and at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM).

He was coordinator of University Extension at UNAM, general director of Publications of the National Council for Culture and the Arts (Conaculta) and general director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

In the Mexican Foreign Ministry, he has served as general director of Cultural Affairs, general director for Europe, general director of the Program for Mexican Communities Abroad, general director for North America, and general consul in San Francisco, California, United States. He obtained the rank of ambassador in April 2005.
