James Carrera holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Tax Law. For the past six years he has been working for the Mexico´s highest academic institution – UNAM - at the Humanities Coordination, managing programs as the Postdoctoral Scholarship Program, the UNAM’s Academic Exchange Program and the Quality Management System; he has also supported the administration of the Museum of Constitutions.

As a member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the University Program of Studies on Asia and Africa, his expertise area is the streamlining of substantive activities through the management of financial resources.
