Mr. Morales is a researcher assigned to CEIICH-UNAM and a member of the SNI. His line of research and professional career is located within the scope of regional development theories and policies, particularly from the perspective of territorial development; this is evidenced in his publications that include studies related to:

  • Regional economic evolution, Chiapas (2009) and Zacatecas (2014)
  • The contribution of the territorial approach in the study of rural-urban systems and the design of policies (2015)
  • Discussions on cross-border regions (various publications between 2014 and 2017)
  • And methodological problems highlighting their concern for the relationships between spatial scales and their levels.

In this regard, the publications are dedicated to the concepts of hierarchy and heterarchy in the analysis of local development (2007), the relationship between scales and cross-border governance (2014), and governance modalities and conditioning between scales (2017).
