Senior Researcher at the Institute of Economic Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and member of the Board of Directors of the National Laboratory of Coastal Resilience (LANRESC). She received the National University Award for Young Academics in Research Economic-Administrative Sciences in 2012 and is a member of the National System of Researchers Level 3. She holds a PhD in Environmental Economics and Ecosystem Management from the University of York, a Master’s in integrated Tropical Coastal Management from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, both in the UK, and is a Biologist at UNAM. In recent years, her research has focused on examining the resilience of social-ecological systems, particularly the role of sustainable diversification in the livelihoods, well-being, and development of rural households. She has also studied the economic valuation of ecosystem services and the implications for public policy.
