She has a PhD. in History of Art from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Her doctoral dissertation, entitled “Kirishitan Churches: The Art of Ephemerality in the Catholic Missions of Japan (1549-1639)” was awarded by the Mexican Academy of Sciences in 2012 and published by the Universidad Iberoamericana in 2017. Since 2013, she has been a full-time professor of Art History at the National School of Advanced Studies Morelia of the UNAM. Her research interests focus on the mendicant art in New Spain, the evangelization of early modern Japan, and artistic relations between Asia and the Americas.
