Gisele Kleidermacher

Sociologist specializing in transnational South-South migration studies, particularly focusing on Senegalese migrants in Argentina and Brazil. She is a pioneer in the study of Senegalese migration in Argentina, contributing to the understanding of their labor trajectories, social networks, and integration processes. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences and has extensive experience in research on migration, education, and labor. She participates in national and international research projects on migration, Afro-descendancy, and inequalities, applying innovative methodological approaches.

Gisele teaches doctoral seminars at UBA and has been a professor of Methodology and Sociology of Migration in the Sociology program for 15 years. She also leads research groups on migration and social inclusion.

She is the editor of the Revista en Ciencias Empresariales y Sociales and has collaborated with international organizations such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Her recent research explores discrimination against migrant students and the dynamics between migrants and natives in school settings. Her latest publication, Microemprendedurismo callejero. Una caracterización de las actividades de personas migrantes de origen senegalés en el Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires (2025), appeared in the Revista de Estudios del Trabajo (ASET). She has also published a book on Senegalese migrant narratives in Argentina.
