Associate Researcher at the Institute of Social Research, UNAM. PhD in Political and Social Sciences, member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico. He obtained the Award for the Best PhD Thesis in Social Sciences granted by the Mexican Academy of Sciences in 2016. He coordinates projects to understand the rearrangements in American migratory systems caused by the transit and settlement of migrants from Asia and Africa, and the Caribbean in Mexico. In this sense, he analyzes how Mexico and its border spaces fit into the puzzle of migration governance on a regional and global scale. He teaches in the undergraduate program in Anthropology (FCPyS/UNAM) and in the Graduate Program in Political and Social Sciences (PPCPyS/UNAM).
