Holds a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from UNAM. He is currently the Head of the National School of Languages, Linguistics, and Translation (ENALLT) at UNAM and a full-time Associate Professor. He began his teaching career 24 years ago at CEPE, offering Spanish courses for foreign students. In 2014, he joined ENALLT and in 2018 obtained tenure as an Associate Professor. In 2019, he was awarded the Alfonso Caso Medal for his academic performance during his doctoral studies. Between 2018 and 2022, he served as Director of UNAM’s Mexican Studies Center in South Africa, where he also taught and was recognized as a senior visiting researcher. He is a Level 1 member of the National System of Researchers (SNI), and his research areas include language assessment and certification, as well as academic writing. He has published 18 book chapters and academic articles, co-authored 4 instructional books, and presented over 30 papers. Dr. Mendoza Ramos serves on editorial boards and as a reviewer for specialized journals. He teaches courses in the Applied Linguistics undergraduate program at ENALLT and in the CEPE’s postgraduate courses in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language, where he also serves a thesis adviser.
