She holds a PhD and MA from Hiroshima University, as well as a BA from the University of Papua New Guinea. She is currently a professor in the Department of Social Sciences in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Goroka, Papua New Guinea. She has been a Senior Lecturer at Divine Word University and Acting Head of the Division of Social Science at the University of Goroka. Her international experience includes working as a teaching and research assistant at the Faculty of Law and Politics, Hiroshima University, Japan. Her research interests include political science, international relations, decentralization, intimate partner violence, and women's political participation in Papua New Guinea. Her publications include “Bougainville Secession and Decentralization in Papua New Guinea” (2016). She has received the Monbukagakusho scholarship (MEXT, 2008-2015) and the Study of U.S. Institutes Scholar award (2021-2022) from the U.S. Department of State. Among her academic achievements is the successful management of the Japan Book Project for the benefit of the University of Goroka. She is currently researching violence, gender, and electoral processes in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, with ongoing studies under review on intimate partner violence, women’s political participation, and their marginalization in voting processes.
