She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the School of Political and Social Sciences, UNAM (1984). She is a Master’s degree (MSc 1987) and a PhD (1995) in Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London. She has formed and coordinated numerous research projects, of which she highlights her studies on indigenous intellectuals, women and the nation, nationalism and ethnicity, human trafficking and racism, democracy and interculturalism. She is a postgraduate professor in the Faculty School of Political and Social Sciences, the Institute of Anthropological Research, the Dr. José María Luis Mora Research Institute and the Degree in Intercultural Management and Development.
