He holds a PhD in Social Sciences with a specialization in Political Science from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso), Mexico. He holds a master's degree in Political Sociology from the Instituto de Investigaciones Doctor José María Luis Mora, and a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the UNAM. He is a full-time tenured "A" researcher at the IIS, and a national researcher level I. His line of study is democracy and social movements, and he is also a member of the tutoring staff of the Postgraduate Program in Political and Social Sciences at UNAM, and a professor of this postgraduate program.
