Professor-researcher at the Department of Pacific Studies of the University Center of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Guadalajara since 1989. She holds a PhD in Transpacific International Relations from the University of Colima; M.A. and Ph.D candidacy in economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her areas of interest are international economics and Mexico-Japan economic relations. She is a member of the National System of Researchers of the National Council of Science and Technology. She is founder and editor of the Journal of Mexico and the Pacific Basin. She participated in the bi-national study group to strengthen relations between Mexico and Japan. She has been a visiting professor at the Center for Integrated Area Studies (CIAS) of the University of Kyoto and the Institute of Developing Economies in Japan. In 2016 she received from the Japanese Chancellery, the Recognition for Promoting the Understanding between Japan and Mexico.
