He holds a PhD in Literature, a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in Classical Literature from UNAM. He holds a Diploma in History and Theory of Religions from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, and in Development of Teaching Skills from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. He is a full-time tenured “C” Researcher, attached to the Center for Classical Studies of the Institute of Philological Research (IIFI) and a permanent Professor of Subject “A” in the College of Classical Letters. He holds the PRIDE D and level II of the National System of Researchers.

His main line of research is Ancient Greek Philology and Comparative Literature. He has published 19 books, five as sole author and 14 as co-author and editor: 21 articles in indexed journals and 34 book chapters. Responsible for the PAPIIT projects: Classical Greco-Latin theater and its tradition in the West (2008-2010); Literary theory and criticism of classical antiquity: from Homer to Dante Alighieri (2015-2017); The processes of reading and writing in ancient Greece: contributions for education in Mexico (2019, in process).

He has taught courses in different national and international universities. He has participated in 230 national and foreign academic events as a lecturer and speaker, and in continuing education courses at the University (UNAM) and in federal agencies, such as the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation and the Federal Electoral Tribunal. He received the 2008 National University Distinction Award for Young Academics, area of Teaching in Humanities, and the Alfonso Caso Medal for his studies and doctoral thesis in Classical Letters. He was academic secretary of the Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas between 2009 and 2016, and at the Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas. He was a member of the Examining Committee of the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (Letras Clásicas y de Letras Hispánicas) and of the Examining Committee of the Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas, among others. He was appointed director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas, for the 2020-2024 term.
