PhD in Economics from UNAM; Master in economics from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and Master in finance from the Faculty of Accounting and Administration from UNAM. She belongs to the National System of Researchers and was in charge for the project: "Banking Reconfiguration, Monetary Circuits and Financial Innovation: New Processes of Financialization in North America". She is also the author of the book "Financialization, Securitization and Crisis: The American Experience" (2020) and multiple articles and chapters in books in Mexico and abroad related to money and finance; Dr. Maya has participated in various national and international colloquiums and seminars. She currently works as a full-time researcher at the Center for Research on North America and as a professor of Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, UNAM. Her lines of research are oriented towards the study of the international economy, in particular, the changes in the financial system of North America; financialization, economic crises, currency and banking, economic policy, and modern money theory.
