Full-time Senior Researcher at the UNAM’s Institute of Anthropological Research. Archaeologist with a degree from the National School of Anthropology and History, as well as a Ph.D. in Physical Anthropology from UNAM.
Paleoanthropologist and prehistorian, he has participated in research projects in the Rift Valley (Ethiopia) and in Atapuerca, Abric Romaní and other sites in Spain. Besides, he has also coordinated archaeological projects in Sonora and Quintana Roo (Mexico) documenting the oldest settlement in America. He is currently coordinating the project "Early Population of Homo sapiens in the tropical rainforest of Equatorial Guinea" investigating the origin of our species.
He has published more than 50 works on human evolution, the theory of bio-social coevolution, prehistory and paleoanthropology of Mexico, and taphonomy.
Member of the Society of Africanist Archaeologists (SAFA); his work focuses on the bio-social processes that have shaped human evolution, mainly in Africa and America.
