Norihisa Arai

Born in Mie, Japan. Bachelor of Arts from the University of Osaka. Scholarship recipient of the exchange program under the Plan for Global Strategic Partnership between Mexico and Japan 2013-2014. Master in Latin American Studies from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), obtaining the Alfonso Caso Award. Ph.D. in Latin American Studies from the same institution. Specialist in anthropology and Latin American history with a focus on indigenous community economies. Participation in journals such as Otra Economía (2020), Boletín CLACSO (2021) and book chapters of CIALC - UNAM (2022, 2023) and CONAHCYT - FCE (in edition) with topics such as alternative economy and community autonomy of indigenous peoples in Mexico and Bolivia. Parallel to the academic career, worked as a Japanese-Spanish translator in both the public and private sectors. Participation in art exhibitions in Japan as a researcher, among them, "Las Formas del Viaje" (Chiba, 2022) "Sekai Toho Ryoko Gakkai: Art and study vol.1" (Kyoto, 2023). He is currently interested in developing research on the historical and current process of dismantling and transformation of the rural environment in East Asia, based on knowledge about modes of rural community organizations in Latin America.
