He holds a PhD and a master's degree in History of Social Communication from the Universidad Complutense. He holds a degree in Social Communication from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Xochimilco. He is currently a full-time "B" researcher at CEIICH, in the Visual Studies Program and is a member of the National System of Researchers, level I.

His lines of research are visual studies and the cultural history of books, as well as other cultural industries such as photography and film. He has published about twenty academic publications, both in journals and in national and international collective books. He has participated in three projects of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Spain).

Responsible for the project Las Bibliotecas Personales: un Estudio sobre Coleccionismo, Escritura, Lectura y Edición de Libros. The cases of José Luis Martínez, Jaime García Terrés, Antonio Castro Leal, Alí Chumacero and Carlos Monsiváis (PAPIIT IG4000319).

He assumed the directorship of the Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias en Ciencias y Humanidades (CEIICH), for the 2020-2024 term.
