Jean Bosco Kakozi

Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo and naturalized Mexican; he is a full-time professor-researcher at the Latin American Institute of Art, Culture and History (ILAACH) of the Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana (Unila/Foz do Iguaçú/Brazil); he studied philosophy and human sciences in the city of Bukavu; theological studies at the Instituto de Formación Teológica Intercongregacional de México (IFTIM); master's and doctoral studies at the Postgraduate Program in Latin American Studies (area of knowledge: Philosophies, History of Ideas and Ideology in Latin America), at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2013, he did a doctoral research stay on Ubuntu, in South Africa, at the "University of the Witwatersrand" (Johannesburg). In 2016, he did a postdoctoral stay in the Postgraduate in Law, in the area of Human Rights, at the Universidade do vale do Rio dos Sinos in Brazil.

His research interests deal with African and Afro-American studies, from the "disciplines" of philosophies, history of ideas and ideology in Latin America, African philosophy and political sociology. He has participated as speaker and/or lecturer in seminars, congresses, conferences and national and international colloquiums; he has also attended several seminars and courses both nationally and internationally on related topics. He has published, nationally and internationally, articles and book chapters on topics related to African studies (Ubuntu and African thought), racism, Afro-descendant populations and the relationship between African ethics and the indigenous peoples of "our America".
