He is a research professor at the Center for Asian and African Studies at El Colegio de México, where he previously completed his studies with a doctorate degree. From critical geography and history, he seeks to clarify the practices of domination, hegemony, resistance and rebellion on an international scale. His writings tend to focus on such processes in the Middle East, a complex region where such practices are both evident and difficult to grasp due to various ideological obstacles. He has published books, chapters and academic articles. He has collaborated in the direction of doctoral, master's and bachelor's theses in Mexico and abroad. He is a member of editorial committees of academic journals in the Americas.
