Gabriela Bañales

Graduate in Historical Anthropology from the Universidad Veracruzana (Xalapa campus) with the thesis Al corazón del tambor. A look at Latin American modernity. Graduated from the Master in Asian and African Studies with a specialization in Africa from El Colegio de México. From 2007 to 2011 she was a dancer of the Ensamble de Percusiones de Xalapa in the section of traditional rhythms of West Africa. In addition, she was a student of Mexican, Guinean and Senegalese dancers and choreographers. She is currently involved in the development of two research projects focused on the Islamization of Africa.
