Claudia Olvera

Designer, plastic artist, and dancer. She studied Technical Construction at The National Polytechnical Institute (IPN) Vocational No.11, she holds a Graphics Design Degree at National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA), from 1985 started her career as a professional dancer in different techniques. She is studying Prerequisites for a master's degree in Mesoamerican Studies at The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2000, she received a scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) to study Odissi Classical Dance in New Delhi, India. During her stay, she investigates historical elements in architecture, archaeology, music, textiles, crafts, etc. In 2007, she was invited to Chile to work with traditional music and dance research groups, giving dance performances and workshops. Since 2008 she has been collaborating on projects and conferences with Dr. Wendy Phillips, a professor of Sanskrit, and researcher at the Philological Research Institute, UNAM. She individually presents dance performances, conferences, and workshops on topic about Indian art or traditional Mexican indigenous textiles at the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH), UNAM, and IPN, among other universities and high schools. To continue in-depth studies on this topic in 2020 she obtains "Indian Classical Dance Professional Development" Pedagogy Certificate by the College of Art and Architecture of the UNC Charlotte, NC, USA, and by Spic Macay, India.
