She holds a degree in International Relations from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the UNAM and a Master's and PhD in Asian and African Studies, specializing in Africa, from El Colegio de México. She also holds a Master's degree in Education from the Universidad del Valle de México. Since 2007 she is a Professor at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at UNAM, where she teaches Africa and Contemporary African Issues for the International Relations program. She is a member of the Regional Studies Seminar of the same Faculty. She has also worked at UVM, Campus Texcoco, where she taught subjects such as Africa, Asia and Pacific, Human Rights and International Migrations, among others for the International Relations career. His research interests include Identity and Contemporary Political Processes in Africa; Conflicts and Peace Processes in Africa; Islam, Identity and Political Participation in East Africa; Refugee Movements in Africa and Relations between Africa and the Asian World. His recent publications include "Geography of knowledge: challenging IR boundaries from Africa" and "Border construction as a bidirectional process. The case of South Africa".
