The course lines were designed considering the impact of the Korean cultural industry around the world and, specifically in Mexico. Today, youth Mexicans follow Korean studies primarily motivated by pop music, soap operas (doramas), and other products from this Asian country. In this context, this tool for practicing Korean will facilitate and diversify the knowledge about some relevant aspects of the cultural industry in South Korea, the phenomenon known as the 'Korean Wave' or 'Hallyu", their pop culture, some prominent idols, and the Korean society.
The teaching material is made up of various speeches in Korean (audiovisual or written material with an extension of one to two pages). The topics this course focuses on are pragmatic.
1. Before reading/listening. This part aims to develop various linguistic elements:
2. While reading/listening
The activities are designed to recycle the language and allow students to interact with the text in a different format.
3. After reading/listening
There are several activities for students to take advantage of the language and new content information in each unit, for example, talking to other students, giving their opinion and providing information, participating in question and answer sessions, speaking about their reality, writing or commenting their opinions, etc.
4. Assignment
The activities in this section will focus on developing writing and comprehension skills while delving into previously learned content.
Students will have to prepare a report on the topic seen, mainly related to a relevant aspect of life in their own country (that is, from a comparative perspective, using information about both cultures), using as many expressions, constructions, and vocabulary of the original text studied in class, as possible.
Also, through some additional activities, they will be allowed to expand their knowledge through the development of research related to the topic of the unit.
